As Fashion Star contestants headed into their next difficult challenge, they had no choice but to step out of the box and surprise the judges with something totally unexpected.  They needed to diversify and show their versatility.  This was not an easy test!

The buyers pushed the designers beyond their boundaries – and the clothes were presented anonymously.

It was a night of High Risk, High Reward.

Luciana did a cropped jacket that was super cute!  She stepped up and hit it out of the park. The detail work was amazing. The mentors and the judges LOVED them. She received 2 offers – one from Macys and one from Saks and they got in a bidding war.  Ultimately, Macy’s had the winning bid of $100,000.

A versatile addition to your wardrobe, this winning Fashion Star design looks polished with a dress and youthful paired with a tee and jeans.  Offered in Light pink, light blue, and multi-colored. $99

Caprice told her, “The world is your oyster.” Caprice also thinks she has what it takes to go to the very end.  I get why they all loved this jacket! It is adorable, don’t you think?

Ronnie Escalante had a sexy yet sporty one piece bathing suit that Macy’s loved!  Caprice offered him $50,000 for it!

Sexy meets sporty in this athletic-inspired one-piece swimsuit, a winning Fashion Star design from Ronnie Escalante. In Black or Turquoise, $99

Caprice said it was very difficult to make a one piece swimsuit sexy and that he accomplished it. Since Macy’s has a huge swim business, it made perfect sense for Macy’s to purchase it.

Here is a look at both of the winning designs again:

Nikki, Barbara, Orly and Sarah were all up for elimination. The mentors chose to save Nikki since all 3 stores have bid on her designs

That left Barbara, Orly and Sarah up for the Buyers to decide who to eliminate.

Caprice announced that Barbara was not their Fashion Star and was ultimately sent home.

Each week, the designers will be put through a variety of challenges that will push them to further develop and expand their brands.

It is down to the Final 8 and next week the mentors will work one-on-one with each designer. We will see if the buyers like their designs!

See it today, wear it tomorrow! Fashion Star airs Tuesdays at 10pm on NBC!

What do you think? Should Barbara have been sent home? Would you buy the bathing suit or the cropped jacket?
